India and Pakistan will meet on October 14 in the World Cup 2023. This match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where more than one lakh spectators will be able to watch the match. Cricket fans, experts and former cricketers from all over the world are watching this match between the two teams. There is already a lot of talk going on about the high-voltage match. Former Bangladesh cricketer Atahar Ali Khan is eagerly waiting for the match between India and Pakistan in the World Cup. He has also praised India’s veteran batsman Virat Kohli. He said that youngsters should learn self-discipline and fitness from Kohli.
During a conversation on RevSport, Athar was asked how excited he was about the India-Pakistan match, he said, “Ha ha ha! Everyone is, I’m not the only one excited. Imagine Rohit Sharma vs Shaheen Afridi at the start of the innings. Virat Kohli and Nasin Shah’s clash. Pakistan has a strong fast bowling line up and in front of one lakh spectators, it will be a great spectacle for the whole world to see. However, it is sad that sports and politics mix but such matches are good for the sport. India is going to host the entire ODI World Cup for the first time. In the year 2011, India co-hosted the World Cup and the MS Dhoni-led team emerged as champions. Athar believes that Team India is a strong contender in the upcoming World Cup.
He said, “India is a great team. I don’t know why the Indian media sometimes takes such a hard line on the players. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are a dream opening pair in the top order. Both are match winners and then you have a champion like Virat Kohli. If you see Kohli running between the wickets, you will know why he is special. Every youth should learn self-discipline and fitness from him. They have received everything and yet are hungry. This is the mark of a truly great player. We would all agree that he has gone through tough times. But then he made a strong comeback. That’s what matters, isn’t it? Virat Kohli has brought immense joy to the entire cricketing world and that’s why I say he is a real class act.
