Team India’s camp for the Asia Cup is underway in Bengaluru
5 players failed the Yo-Yo test, including KL Rahul
New Delhi. Team India is preparing for the Asia Cup in Alur near Bangalore. All the players were tested for fitness on the first day of the 6-day camp. Apart from this, there was also a mandatory yo-yo test to check physical strength. Shubham Gill (18.7) scored the highest in this Test. The rest of the players also passed this test. Some players in the Asia Cup squad did not give the mandatory yo-yo test. Its list has come up.
According to news agency PTI, 5 players in the Asia Cup squad – Jasprit Bumrah, famous Krishna, Tilak Verma, Sanju Samson (reserved player for Asia Cup) and KL Rahul did not give the yo-yo test. Rahul is not fully fit yet and the team management does not want to take any risk on him. He participated in a gym session on the first day but the team management and physio did not want to risk the keeper-batsman by giving him a yo-yo test ahead of the Asia Cup. That is why he did not take this exam.
5 players did not give yo-yo test
As far as Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, the famous Krishna and Sanju Samson are concerned. They did not need the Yo-Yo test as all these players had already returned from the Ireland tour and participated in the team’s practice session as soon as they reached Bangalore. A day ago, Team India started preparing for the Asia Cup. India’s first match will be against Pakistan on September 2 in Pallakal. The Indian team has made a strategy for preparation. Under this the players are tested in different conditions, which is called match simulation. So that players can prepare themselves for the actual exam. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer tested their fitness, batting and fielding according to match simulation at the NCA last week.
Rohit-Gill will open in the Asia Cup
Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill faced Mohammad Siraj’s bowling at center wicket. Nowadays, teams taking a more aggressive approach in ODIs play their strategy by splitting the 10-over basis. Rohit and Gill also batted with a similar strategy while batting at the center wicket. Both batted with the first 10 overs in mind. After this, Rohit-Gill spent a long time checking their flaws on the net. It is clear from this that Rohit and Gill will be the only ones to open the innings in the Asia Cup.
The duo of Gill and Rohit has been a hit so far
Since June last year, opening with Rohit, Gill has added 683 runs in 8 innings and has shared a century between the two. There was also talk that Ishaan Kishan could also open with Rohit. However, the way Rohit batted with Gill on the first day considering the match simulation, it seems almost certain that both the batsmen will open the innings in the Asia Cup.
More than a dozen net bowlers arrived at the camp
More than a dozen net bowlers are being used for this camp. Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya also practiced for a long time.
