Many teams are contenders to win the World Cup 2023, one of them is India. There are many main reasons for Team India to be a contender, including India’s excellent performance in ODI cricket, a strong squad and hosting is the biggest reason. Since the World Cup 2011 has become history, every country that has hosted the 50-over World Cup has managed to win the ICC title. But India will not be able to benefit from the home advantage this time. In fact, at a recent ICC meeting, Chief Curator Andy Atkinson told other curators not to bow to pressure from the home team when preparing pitches at all World Cup venues, including warm-up matches. As reported by The Telegraph, the meeting took place in Mumbai on Wednesday, August 23.

A source who attended the meeting told The Telegraph: ‘The ICC chief curator said that the curator should try to ensure that he does not come under pressure from the home team when it comes to pitch preparation. While preparing the pitch, it should be kept in mind that the pitch should be as sporty as possible and not favor the home team.

The source also said that one type of pitch cannot be prepared in India due to the different nature of the soil. But he also said that the ICC is looking to develop a pitch that lasts longer and can play a full match of 50-50 overs.
