Women dancing on soldiers’ graves in Ukraine caught by police as video goes viral

New Delhi. Ukrainian women have been detained after posting a video of themselves dancing on the graves of slain soldiers on Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24. In a video posted by user handle (vl_lindermann) on social media platform Instagram, two women are seen dancing on graves.

The video also shows pictures of slain soldiers, with women dancing on graves. The video was later removed and the user posted an apology on Instagram saying he was visiting his father’s grave.

Can be punished for 5 years
According to RT.com, Ukrainian police said they found the clip on Thursday evening. “Less than an hour later, law enforcement officers found (the women) and brought them to the police station,” a Kyiv police statement said. The statement added that the two women face “up to five years in prison” for “desecrating the graves of soldiers”.

It was later learned that the two sisters had come to the cemetery in this way to pay respect to the memory of the dead. Ukrainian police later released photographs of the two women, still wearing the same clothes they were wearing in the video with a police officer. Netizens were certainly outraged by the desecration of the graves of the two Ukrainian women. ‘Lack of respect’, commented one Reddit user

How has the reaction been on social media?
Another user commented, ‘First of all there is a lack of brains.’ A third user wrote, “Disgusting.” A fourth commented, “Oh my god, it’s sad how many people claim this is a “Ukrainian thing” in the original thread.” A fifth user wrote, “These girls probably lack focus, so government and society can give them social work, like cleaning graveyards or some other work for a few weeks/months.”
