India set a new record in the space sector on Wednesday. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully landed Chandrayaan-3 on the South Pole of the Moon. India became the first country to land on the South Pole as soon as Chandrayaan-3 touched the lunar surface at 6:40 pm. According to Isro officials, after the soft-landing, the rover ‘Pragyan’ descended from inside the lander ‘Vikram’ to the lunar surface using one of its side panels, which acted as a ramp. According to ISRO, the lander and rover will have one lunar day (equivalent to about 14 Earth days) to study the lunar surface and surrounding atmosphere. However, scientists have not ruled out the possibility of both remaining active for another lunar day.
